Andy Warhol 15 mins ...
I loved making this piece even though it is my biggest piece of embroidery yet at 12 inches by 12 inches. Andy took over 185 hours to stitch and a whole lot of patience. I was inspired to make this piece as we live in such a fast paced world where our identity or validation can feel like it comes from social media and how many likes we have. Its not a judgement piece as I am also 'guilty' of wanting the dopamine hit a like gives you. This piece also referrences a quote Andy Warhol is supposed to have said which gave rise to the "15 minutes of fame..." quote we have all heard.
Seed Stitch
Seed stitch is one of my favourite stitches. I have gone rogue with how I use it though. It takes a really long time to build up texture and tone with it. I think thats what I like about it, it is more mindful.
Split Stitch
Split stitch is a fabulous blending stitch, again I have gone rogue with my application though.
